Customer care and employee satisfaction are two vital ingredients
to the successful running of a restaurant.

Through our experience of teaching English to staff in the hospitality
industry, we believe it is strategically beneficial to be able to offer
future employees a valuable training course for the following reasons:
· Increased company loyalty by providing an additional reason for
staff to stay with the company
· Improved waiting staff's ability to sustain good rapport with customers
and to encourage repeat-customer loyalty
· Encouragement of staff to learn together, and to promote strong
team-work
· Cultivation of satisfied, confident staff to sustain the success
of the restaurant through a feeling of progression and confidence-building
The objectives and aims of these couses can be tailored to suit the client's
needs. Below is a proposed structure based on our experience:
To teach English as a foreign language to closed groups of employees in
the hospitality industry.
Classes are to be divided according to their level of English and to have
no more than 12 students per class. There is no minimum number of students
per class. We can open more groups according to the students' level and
number of students (so, for example, we can have more than one class running
concurrently).
We propose to offer General English, (according to the students' present
level of English) and Exam English classes (preparation for the FCE exam).
We will assess the students' level and needs.
We propose that the classes should be run Monday - Thursday 15:00 - 16:30 when the employees are available. These classes would be held at Kheiron School of English, 9 Park End Street, Oxford OX1 1HH. An additional £50 is to be charged if the classes are to be held at the client's venue (dependent on location). If Kheiron is unable to accommodate the classes for any reason, as needs be, the classes would be held at one of the client venues.
Proposed schedule:
Monday -General English A
Wednesday - General English B
Tuesday - FCE exam preparation
Thursday - FCE exam preparation
The typical length of a course at Kheiron School includes 120 hours of English, spread over 12-week terms. The rationale behind this is that this length of time (120 hours) enables a learner to attain the skills to master that level and to significantly progress.
FCE exam preparation class:
We propose that the FCE exam class should run for 28 weeks, meaning students
would attend 84 hours in total (3 hours/week). This would be a deficit of
36 hours for the recommended course length (of 120 hours), therefore students
would be recommended to self-study for a total of 36 hours (approximately
one hour/week).
Price: £100/1.5-hour class
Total for 28 weeks: £5600
To be charged on a 4-weekly basis: £800
General English classes:
We propose that the General English classes should run for 12-week blocks.
Within 12 weeks, a total of 18 hours of the recommended 120 hours for an
English course would be covered. We propose this would need to be spread
over 5 blocks of 12-week lessons.
PLEASE NOTE: we strongly feel that progress is much more significant when
students study more than once/week. We would strongly recommend students
studying both General English and FCE exam preparation to attend two classes/
week, with each class lasting for 1.5 hours.
Price: £85/1.5-hour class (once/week) Price: £85/1.5 hour class
(twice/week)
Total for 12 weeks: £1020 Total for 12 weeks: £2040
To be charged on a 4-weekly basis: £340 To be charged on a 4-weekly
basis: £680
Employees would need to attend 90% of classes. Kheiron School of English
would set placement tests for the students at the beginning of the course
in order to ascertain the level and the needs of each student.
The teacher would set progress tests every 12 weeks for the students and
each student will have a report at the end of the course. Kheiron would
provide the company with individual reports for each student with a summary
of their progress; additionally, each student would be given a report and
a certificate at the end of the course, stating level reached and attendance.
